This is next-level genius. But clarify something for me. Most commercial sequencing uses 16s DNA. The DNA examined is the gene for the 16s rRNA. It sounds like your game developer was sequencing 16s rRNA sequences directly, not the DNA of the 16s gene? Probably that should have been clarified early on.

So if ERV is an ancient virus incorporated in a widescale way into human DNA, how is it that it only expresses on the surface of lung cancer cells? Wouldn't this ERV encoding be seen on many types of human cells? That's a fortunate quirk that these only express in certain tumors. So if I am getting this right, the immune system is "protecting" cancer cells by killing cells that it believes are infected by an ancient virus. The immune system just doesn't realize that all of the tumor cells have this expression of ERV. Is there research center in the US actively testing for ERV antibodies, so that a current lung cancer patient could investigate their ERV antibody status, in possible preparation for ICB therapy down the road?

Are good bacteria or bad bacteria complicit or both? If so the more biodiverse your gut bacteria is, could potentially increase the probability of having that specific bacteria or groups of bacteria that interfere with the drugs prior to being absorbed. What do you think?

I love this! Working with AST testing for years, I'm happy to see some promising developments in reducing turn around time! One of our biggest complaints from clinicians is how long the test takes and the short stability period of microbiology specimens. I would be interested to see if this could be implemented in the physician offices that usually send to reference labs. With the quick TAT, you could prescribe patients the most effective antibiotics same day.
